The ICS-1600 system is designed to perform isocratic ion chromatography (IC) separations using conductivity detection with standard bore (4 mm) and microbore (2 mm) columns. Multiple available valving configurations support many modes of automated sample preparation.
When configured as an RFIC-ER™ system, the ICS-1600 allows continuous operation for up to four weeks using a single eluent preparation. Chromeleon® software provides full control and digital data collection from a PC using USB high-speed communication protocol. Available options include in-line vacuum degassing and the RFIC-ER installation kit.
Key Features:
- LCD front panel control
- Eluent regeneration functionality built in
- Dual-piston pump
- Column heater
- Electrolytic suppression
- Digital conductivity detection
- Vacuum degas (option)
- USB connectivity, plug-n-play
- Optical leak detector
- Electronic logbook and trending
- Optional 6- or 10-port valve for automated sample preparation
Benefits:
- Flexible flow rate supports 2, 3, 4, and 5 mm column formats.
- RFIC-ER system technology provides up to 28 days of chromatography results using only a single eluent preparation.
- Automated sample preparation capabilities enable techniques, such as on-line filtration, concentration, and matrix elimination.
- Trap and catalytic columns purify returning eluent, assuring consistent, high-quality eluent for separations.
- RFIC-ER systems are designed for high throughput analyses of anions or cations in low- to moderate-concentration matrices, or in high-concentration matrices after matrix elimination.
- Eluent valve provides positive shutoff of eluent flow prior to the pump for easy servicing.
- Leak detection and management allow fast response to system leaks.
High Performance in an Integrated Design
For improved reproducibility, the heated and thermostatted high-performance conductivity detection cell permits measurements that are unaffected by temperature variations. This capability allows the instrument to provide sensitive conductivity results consistently, without baseline drift. Advanced single-range digital output with an operating range to 15,000 µS full-scale provides a full range for your ion analysis needs. Whether in low or high concentrations, ions of interest are easily identified in this detection range. An optional column heater can provide improved day-to-day consistency, ensuring reproducibility and system stability by heating the column at a stable temperature.
Optional built-in eluent vacuum degas provides automatic in-line degassing of eluents, protecting eluents from contamination and decomposition. RFIC-ER™ system control is also integrated into the instrument; add the optional startup kit and run samples for up to 28 days on a single 4 L bottle of eluent. Also optional is an integrated, auxiliary sample preparation valve. A 6- or 10-port valve can be installed to enable cost saving sample preparation techniques such as matrix elimination and on-line filtration.
Inject Sample and Collect Data
The ICS-1600 comes equipped with a front panel touchpad controller. This controller allows the user to control and monitor the system status continuously directly from the instrument. The home screen provides on-screen operation with a single touch. Navigation is as easy as touching a button. The informative status screen provides customized status settings that the user can select. Large fonts provide easy viewing from a distance. The ICS-1600 user interface includes a screen that plots the signal in real time with autoscale functionality. This tool is excellent for monitoring the baseline.
Column Heater
Column heating maintains stable temperatures above ambient. This capability ensures superior instrument performance for excellent separation results and provides day-to-day consistency for reproducibility and stability. A precolumn heat exchanger is built in to ensure that the eluent is at the set temperature, optimizing column separations and maximizing the column performance. A convenient transparent cover allows viewing of the column without temperature disruption. The column heater can be set and monitored with Chromeleon® software or the touch-pad controller for easy operation and control.
Convenient and Easy-to-Use IC System
The ICS-1600 system is controlled and operated using the Chromeleon® Chromatography Data system software. Chromeleon software combines the ideal blend of powerful data analysis capabilities with a logical, user-friendly interface. Only Chromeleon software offers IC features that adapt to IC separations, and integration parameters that provide consistent results with changing concentrations. Audit trails log the details of instrument use to provide a snapshot of the system running conditions. All manipulations are recorded and kept in a history file, making troubleshooting simple and GLP compliance more achievable. Storage of results in the secure, integral database allows you to find your data by any parameter using query functions. System Wellness provides on-line calibration and diagnostics to ensure optimum performance. A customizable reporting structure allows for optimized data and results presentation.
The ICS-1600 can be fully automated with an autosampler that consistently delivers samples every run, without user attention. The AS-DV and AS autosamplers provide flexibility in sample delivery and sample preparation alternatives. Simply fill and load the sample containers, enter the description, and press start to begin your daily routine.
