Parallel & Tandem Analyses using UltiMate 3000

Laboratories today are under more and more pressure to increase sample throughput. At the same time they are limited in their options either because they are unable to purchase new HPLC instruments or because they are unable to change existing validated methods. Solutions based on UltiMate®  3000 x2 Dual LC systems allow laboratories to overcome these challenges.

  • Increases throughput not only for new methods, but also for existing (validated) methods
  • No revalidation of methods required
  • Double throughput with parallel LC, for isocratic and gradient separations
  • Up to 50% shorter run times with tandem LC, with off-line column regeneration
  • Optimizes the workload on an expensive detector (e.g., a mass spec)
  • A system price only slightly higher than for a standard LC
  • Unique x2 dual concept with many benefits [ more]
  • Parallel and tandem LC application kits include all required tubing and instructions
  • A tandem LC wizard helps convert standard methods into tandem LC methods

Double throughput with parallel chromatography

In parallel LC mode, two eluent lines share one autosampler and one column compartment. An UltiMate 3000 Dual-Gradient Pump delivers the flow. Two detectors record the two signals simultaneously. Chromeleon® Chromatography Management Software treats the configuration as two complete independent systems, and manages seamless autosampler and column compartment sharing.

Shorten run times with tandem LC, with off-line column regeneration

In tandem LC mode, two identical columns are switched back and forth between two flow paths—an analysis flow path and a regeneration flow path. Thus, tandem LC allows for washing and reequilibrating columns off-line. While one column is equilibrated, the system injects the next sample on to the other column. Tandem LC, therefore, shortens the analysis time by the time it takes to wash and equilibrate a column for the next injection. This is typically between 20–50% of the analysis time.
