Electrochemical detection has never been simpler. Dionex sells disposable gold electrodes for electrochemical detection of
amino acids and carbohydrates. The new disposable gold electrodes are guaranteed to provide <10% RSD for peak area response,
electrode to electrode. Each lot of electrodes is tested either for carbohydrate applications using a mix of six glycoprotein
monosaccharides, or for amino acid applications with an injection of a histidine standard.
-
Consistent peak response, electrode to electrode
-
No further need for time-consuming, labor-intensive electrode polishing
-
Serial numbers for tracking purposes
-
Easy installation procedure
-
Fast system reequilibration in less than 30 min
The Dionex disposable gold electrodes were developed to improve the ease of use and reproducibility of electrochemical detection. Disposable
electrodes provide reproducible data, electrode to electrode and lot to lot, while maintaining good peak shape, high efficiency,
and good sensitivity. Electrodes are tested specifically for either amino acid applications or carbohydrate applications.
Customers should purchase electrodes tested for their specific application.
Each disposable gold electrode for amino acid applications is guaranteed to last for one week, whereas each disposable electrode
for carbohydrate applications is guaranteed to last for 2 weeks. At the end of the recommended lifetime, or if the electrode
becomes fouled, simply install a new disposable electrode; polishing is a thing of the past. After a new electrode has been
installed, system reequilibration is rapid. However, to maintain the surface integrity of the disposable electrodes it is
imperative that the correct waveform is used; for carbohydrate applications the quadruple waveform must be used. Replacement
of the electrode is easy and each lot of electrodes has a unique serial number for tracking purposes.
The disposable electrodes are shipped as a package of 6 electrodes with 2 gaskets, or as a package of 24 electrodes with 8
gaskets. They may be installed into an existing system using the conventional cell block. For installation into new systems,
we recommend the purchase of a cell block that does not have a gold electrode imbedded, for significant savings. Dionex disposable
gold electrodes have been shown to make a significant impact on the time to system equilibration (about 50% the time of a
conventional gold electrode), while maintaining comparable results for system background and noise.
