In this session, Dr. Leon Barron will discuss analytical methods he has developed at King’s College London, in collaboration with the London Metropolitan Police, to determine inorganic tracer species in forensic samples such as shell casings, latent fingerprints, and human sweat. He will talk about his use of traditional-scale and capillary scale IC, and explain the advantages associated with the use of capillary IC technology.

This webinar discussion will cover topics including one- and two-dimensional approaches, while also considering the detection possibilities available to the analytical scientist for complex peptide mixture analysis, in particular the use of fast-scanning mass spectrometers. The discussion will then progress to the use of more novel phases that have been shown to have substantial advantages in the area of peptide analysis, specificlaly the improved orthogonality of the second dimension to the traditional ion-exchange materials.
