High-Throughput Method for Simultaneous Analysis of Water-Soluble Vitamins
SUNNYVALE, CA (Dec 2011) — Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has developed a high-throughput method for the simultaneous analysis of water-soluble vitamins (WSVs) in multivitamin supplements and vitamin-enriched beverages. The ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) method described in Application Note 294 was optimized for total resolution of all target analytes on a reversed-phase (RP) C30 column with a rapid separation LC (RSLC) system and a triple stage quadrupole mass spectrometer. Accurate quantitative measurements for vitamins are required to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance as well as to monitor vitamin intake.
This method demonstrated excellent, precision, accuracy, and selective and sensitive detection with low quantitation limits and a high correlation of determination, and was successfully applied to the determination of WSVs in beverages and supplement tablets.
