D-Library is a repository of Dionex applications that users can search, review, and then use.
Accessed using a web browser such as Microsoft® Internet Explorer® or Mozilla® Firefox®, users can search by typing general text or use specific criteria such as analyte, matrix, column type, run time, instrument type, and market type to find applications and filter accordingly until they discover the most suitable for their needs.
All details of an application can be viewed in the web browser. This includes details about the HPLC system, the column, gradient, and other instrument parameters. In addition, the web interface provides an interactive chromatogram view with integration results for each data channel that was acquired when the application was generated. This allows the user to zoom into the chromatogram and investigate the resulting data.
Once a suitable application is found, a ready-to-run sequence template which includes a report, instrument method, and processing method can be downloaded and transferred into the Chromeleon® Chromatography Data System. This allows Dionex product users to easily replicate and execute the applications in their own environment.
D-Library brings it all together, allowing everyone access with easy searching and providing the ability to recreate the applications.

Getting Started with D-Library
D-Library is compatible with several web browsers: Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 7 and above, Mozilla® Firefox®, Apple Safari, Opera Software™ Opera®, and Google® Chrome™.
You can access D-Library by clicking the D-Library icon in the title bar.

If using Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, Dionex recommends using compatibility mode. To set compatibility mode click the icon next to URL or select Tools from Menu bar and then Compatibility View.
Once the page is loaded, users instantly have access to the full list of Dionex applications available for download. Users can simply browse through all of the applications using the navigation options at the top or bottom left of the applications list.

At the top of the page users can also enter a general text string in the search bar. For example, you may wish to search for applications that analyze “ascorbic acid”. D-Library instantly returns the relevant applications. All matching occurrences of the text entry are highlighted in yellow for easy identification. The number of hits or suitable applications is displayed at the top right (Figure 1).

Alternatively, the Advanced Search provides a more structured approach to searching through the applications database. Using logical conditions (And/ Or) the list of applications can be filtered accordingly. For example, “vitamins” could be searched within Title (Figure 2a) and then the Compound Name “ascorbic acid” can be added (Figure 2b). Finally, a maximum Run Time of 4 minutes can be set (Figure 2c). This results in a single application using UHPLC (Figure 2).

The resulting application can be viewed in detail by clicking on the title or the chromatogram thumbnail (Figure 2d).
The application view shows a chromatogram and the result table for each channel of interest on the left side (Figure 3a). The chromatogram plot allows zooming (Figure 3b), and when hovering over the index mark of a peak the peak name and results for that peak are highlighted (Figure 3c). On the right side of the application view, the description (Figure 3d) and the most important instrument parameters, such as wavelength and oven temperature, are also shown. The gradient table, column details, and instrument model numbers are available through separate tabs (Figure 3e). On the lower right side, web links with related information and downloadable files, such as a template sequence or an eWorkflow, are provided (Figure 3f).

Users can also subscribe to the RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed. The RSS feed is a convenient and effortless way to be notified when new applications are available. For example, if you use Outlook 2007 you can receive notifications of new and updated applications. To setup Outlook 2007:
- On the Tools menu, click Account Settings.
- On the RSS Feeds tab, click New.
- In the New RSS Feed dialog box, type or copy and paste http://dlibrary.dionex.com/rss.aspx
- Click Add. Click OK.
